This flexible policy makes it a very friendly platform for DJs, producers, and experimental artists looking to explore new forms of musical expression.

🎧 What types of content can you distribute with UMW?

In addition to original music, you can upload:

  • Remixes (official or own)

  • Instrumentals

  • Alternative or extended versions

  • Edits, reworks and demos

  • Live sets (as long as they do not include third-party copyrighted material)

  • Covers (see legal notice below)

This offers a range of creative possibilities for those working with different versions of a work or reinterpreting existing material.

📜 Key conditions for the acceptance of remixes and derivative works

UMW allows you to upload this type of content as long as you comply with copyright regulations :

  1. You must have the legal right to use any third-party samples or content

    • This includes snippets of other songs, dialogue, sound effects, commercial loops, etc.

    • If you use a sample from another work, you must have an explicit license to use it from the owner of the master and/or publishing rights.

  2. You may not upload content that infringes copyright , even if the audio is modified or mixed.

  3. 🎛️ For official remixes , you need to have:

    • Written permission from the original artist or label.

    • Or, you can own the rights to the original song you're remixing.

  4. ⚠️ Covers (versions of popular songs performed by you) may be accepted, but:

    • Some platforms require a valid cover license (especially in the US).

    • UMW does not license compositions, so you must ensure that you comply with legal requirements.

💡 What if you use sample or loop libraries?

  • If you use samples from libraries like Splice, Loopmasters, Cymatics, etc., make sure to:

    • Having obtained the content legally.

    • Read the terms of commercial use : some free samples have distribution restrictions.

    • Avoid popular loops used by other well-known artists (to avoid copyright conflicts).
