Sometimes, due to artist name mismatches or automated processes by DSPs (Digital Service Providers), a release may be mistakenly assigned to the wrong artist profile or even generate a new profile when one already exists.

At UMW Recordings Inc., we offer specialized support to correct these types of errors through direct requests to the channels or by using official artist verification and profiling tools.

🔄 When can this error occur?

  • The artist's name is similar or identical to another existing artist.

  • The channel (DSP) creates a new profile automatically without checking if an active one already exists.

  • The Artist ID was not entered correctly when setting up the release.

Available Solutions

1. Direct management of the artist (self-management)

Some DSPs offer tools for artists to correct these errors themselves using forms or verified accounts:

Tidal

Boomplay

TikTok

Resso

Contact via UMW support.

2. Management by UMW Recordings Inc.

If you are unable to make the correction directly, you can request content relocation by contacting our support team, providing:

  • Link to incorrectly assigned content

  • Correct artist name

  • Destination profile (link or artist ID)

  • Biography and image (if you are requesting a new profile)

  • Affected DSP

UMW will directly manage the correction with the corresponding channel.

🧬 Artist ID and its importance

To avoid future errors, you can link your Artist ID from the Artist Configuration module in the UMW platform.

How to do it?

  1. Access your artist profile on Spotify, Apple Music, or SoundCloud.

  2. Copy the corresponding Artist ID.

  3. Paste the ID into the field provided when creating or editing the artist in UMW.

  4. Update the release to reflect the new ID.

⏳ Resolution times

The average estimated time for a DSP to process a profile correction or creation request is up to 2 business days , although this may vary by channel.
