Some digital music channels have recently incorporated synchronized or static lyrics displays as part of their user experience. This feature allows listeners to read the lyrics while listening to a song, improving accessibility, engagement, and end-user loyalty.

UMW Recordings Inc. facilitates this integration through two primary avenues:

  1. Direct supply via DDEX metadata .

  2. External synchronization through certified letter providers .

How to ensure your lyrics are available?

Option A – Direct delivery via UMW (DDEX)

During the creation process of your release, you can include the full lyrics of the song in the corresponding field, following good formatting practices:

  • No spelling mistakes.

  • Exact match to the recording.

  • One line per verse.

  • Do not include stage directions, translations, or additional text.

This option is primarily valid for channels like Apple Music , where the “Lyrics” field is interpreted directly from the delivered metadata.

Option B – Distribution through certified suppliers

For channels like Spotify, Instagram, Amazon, or Tidal, your lyrics must be properly uploaded and synced to specialized platforms such as:

Both services allow:

  • Upload new letters.

  • Correctly associate with your ISRC.

  • Request synchronization with compatible DSPs.

Recommendation : Verify that the artist name, title, and ISRC code match exactly between UMW and the lyrics provider to avoid mapping errors.
