๐Ÿ” What Does That Mean Exactly?

As a user, you are responsible for the following:

โœ… 1. Obtaining All Necessary Authorizations

  • Secure written or legal consent from all relevant parties:
    โ€‹composers, lyricists, co-writers, publishers, or copyright holders

  • Make sure every contributor has authorized the commercial use of the music


๐Ÿ’ธ 2. Covering All Related Payments

  • Handle any fees or royalties due for using works owned by third parties

  • Pay collecting societies (like ASCAP, BMI, PRS, SACM, SAYCE, etc.) if applicable

  • Be accountable for any sync licenses or music clearance costs ๐ŸŽง


โš–๏ธ 3. Assuming Legal Responsibility for Any Disputes

  • If a third party files a claim about authorship, publishing, or unauthorized use,
    โ€‹you โ€” the user โ€” will be fully responsible for resolving it

  • UMW will not be liable for any disputes regarding publishing or performance rights

  • Even if you are the songwriter, your work must be properly registered with a PRO (Performing Rights Organization) or publisher

  • If you're using samples, beats, or lyrics from others, you must have full legal clearance or contracts proving your right to distribute it
