Why has my video been hidden or muted in Facebook Rights Manager?

At UMW Recordings Inc, we understand how frustrating it can be to see your video hidden or muted on platforms like Facebook.

If you've received a notification from Facebook Rights Manager, here's exactly what's happening, why it's happening, and what you can do about it.

⚠️ What's going on?

Facebook Rights Manager (FBRM) has an automatic content detection and monitoring system that, in some cases, blocks or hides certain types of posts , even if they were uploaded by the artist themselves.

The most common cases are:

  • Videos that consist solely of a still image + an audio track (known as art-tracks).

  • Videos that match music content previously recorded by a distributor, publisher, or monitoring platform.

🚫 Why does Facebook block these videos?

This is due to internal Facebook policies , not a direct action by UMW Recordings Inc or a distribution error.

  • Facebook believes that art tracks do not offer dynamic visual content and can be considered spam by its algorithm.

  • Even if the video was uploaded by the artist or copyright holder themselves, Facebook may automatically hide it.

  • In no way does this mean that your content is penalized or in violation: it is an automated moderation action .

🔇 Why am I seeing a message saying the video was muted due to copyright?

This message may appear even if the video hasn't actually been muted . It's part of a standard Facebook notification generated by its system when it detects content matches (audio, video, or metadata).

📌 Important :
UMW Recordings Inc. and its distribution network never proactively block, mute, or remove your content . Facebook alone controls these actions through its own automated policy.

🛠 What can I do if this happens to me?

If you receive a notification or notice that your video has been hidden or muted:

  1. Don't panic : your content has not been penalized.

  2. Copy the direct link of the affected video.

  3. Contact our support team so we can investigate directly with Facebook.
